How to use 如果…的话
如果⋯⋯ (的话) ,(就) ⋯⋯
如果 introduces a condition on which another statement depends. 的话 can close the condition, making the boundary especially clear before the result or response. The main clause may describe a consequence, give advice, make a request, or ask what someone would do. It is the relationship between the clauses that creates the conditional meaning.
In many sentences, either 如果 or 的话 can be omitted while the condition remains understandable. 就 often introduces the result but is not required in every conditional. Keep it after the main clause’s subject when that subject is present. Context supplies the time and reality of the hypothetical situation, so the same basic frame can support different English conditional forms.
