How to use 关于

Sentence pattern

关于 + Obj. ,⋯⋯

关于 introduces the subject matter of a discussion, question, or statement. At the beginning of a sentence, a 关于 phrase establishes what the following comment concerns. It is especially useful when shifting attention to an issue or organizing information. The comment can have its own subject, which need not be the noun following 关于.

Inside a noun phrase, place 关于 and its topic before 的 and the head noun. This describes an article, report, comment, or other item dealing with that subject. Do not automatically translate every English “about” with 关于: Chinese verbs such as 聊 and 说 can already take the discussed topic directly as their object.
