How to use 多亏

Sentence pattern

多亏(了) + helpful circumstance,subject + 才 + favorable result

多亏 identifies the help or fortunate circumstance behind a favorable result. It invites the listener to recognize that things could have gone worse without that contribution. The phrase often expresses appreciation, whether the benefit came from another person, a timely action, or useful circumstances. It can introduce the explanation or follow an outcome that has already been stated.

了 commonly follows 多亏 when referring to help received, but it is not required in every sentence. In a cause-first sentence, 才 can emphasize that this help made the outcome possible. A following 不然 clause describes the unfavorable alternative. Keep the credited contribution positive rather than using 多亏 for ordinary harmful causes.
