Sentence pattern

为了 + Purpose,Subject + Action; Subject + 为了 + Purpose + Action

为了 introduces the goal or intended benefit that motivates an action. The purpose may be a noun phrase, such as a person’s future, or an activity the subject hopes to accomplish. Put the full 为了 phrase before the main action, either at the start of the sentence or after the subject. The following clause explains the means chosen to serve that goal.

The 了 belongs to the word 为了 here and does not mark a completed event. Purpose also differs from an existing cause: 为了 points toward an intended outcome, while 因为 introduces a reason already relevant to the situation. A 是为了 phrase can explicitly identify what an action is intended to achieve.
