How to use 并且
Clause / verb phrase 1 + 并且 + clause / verb phrase 2
并且 adds a second related point to the first. It may simply connect actions, or it may build the argument by presenting something further. This makes English translations such as and also or moreover useful, depending on how much emphasis the second part receives. The connection should be meaningful rather than a loose sequence of unrelated observations.
Place 并且 before the added verb phrase or clause. The second part can contain 也 or 还 when their meanings fit. It also works after an opening 不但 or 不仅 clause to extend the statement. Compared with the shorter linking 并, 并且 more comfortably supports a fuller addition or an explicitly progressive argument.
