How to use 并
Verb phrase 1 + 并 + verb phrase 2
并 can join two related verb phrases within a single statement. It is particularly useful in concise written language when the actions share a subject and form part of one account, decision, or instruction. The verbs may describe complementary actions or connected stages, such as considering something and then approving it. The connection is tighter than simply listing unrelated events.
Place 并 between the complete verb phrases, including any objects each one needs. The subject is often shared rather than repeated. 并且 can make the link fuller or more explicit, but this lesson's short 并 does not itself express the corrective emphasis found in 并不 or 并没有.

- Use 并 between closely related verb phrases.
