How to use 再说
⋯⋯ ,再说 ,⋯⋯
再说 can introduce another reason supporting a decision or judgment. The preceding statement establishes the position, and the following clause strengthens it with an additional consideration. English commonly uses “besides” or “moreover” to convey the connection. The new reason should relate logically to the same issue, rather than simply starting an unrelated topic.
也 often appears inside the supporting clause, although it is not required for the connector to work. This use is common when explaining why an option is unsuitable or defending an earlier recommendation. Keep it separate from literal uses of 再 and 说 concerning speaking again or discussing something later. The relationship between the clauses reveals whether the expression is linking reasons.

What to remember

- Keep both reasons tied to the same issue.
