How to use 顺便
Subj. +Verb Phrase 1,顺便 + Verb Phrase 2
顺便 introduces an additional action that fits conveniently with something already being done. The first activity creates the opportunity; the 顺便 phrase names the extra task. It often translates as while you are at it or along the way. The relationship is practical convenience, rather than merely two unrelated actions occurring close together.
Put 顺便 before the secondary verb phrase. The main activity can appear in a preceding clause, a time expression, or the earlier conversation. In requests, 吧 or a question can soften the added favor. Familiar expressions also use 顺便 to introduce a side remark during conversation. Keep the secondary status clear so the listener understands why the extra action belongs with the original task.
