How to use 好像
好像⋯⋯
好像 introduces an impression that the speaker has not fully confirmed. It can precede a description, an identity statement, or an action, so its use is broader than commenting only on visual appearance. The evidence may come from what the speaker observes, hears, or infers from the situation. English often renders it as “seems” or “apparently.”
Put 好像 before the predicate when the subject is stated first. It can also introduce a whole clause, especially when the sentence begins with the tentative observation itself. Keep negatives and aspect markers where the following predicate requires them. 好像 softens the certainty of the proposition; it does not automatically make the statement a question.
