Two blue umbrellas

雨停了，我和朋友准备离开咖啡馆。

Yǔ tíng le, wǒ hé péngyou zhǔnbèi líkāi kāfēiguǎn.

The rain stops, and my friend and I get ready to leave the café.

门口放着两把蓝色的伞，看起来一模一样。

Ménkǒu fàngzhe liǎng bǎ lánsè de sǎn, kàn qǐlai yì mú yí yàng.

Two blue umbrellas stand by the door. They look exactly alike.

我们各拿了一把，走到街上才发现又下雨了。

Wǒmen gè ná le yì bǎ, zǒu dào jiē shang cái fāxiàn yòu xià yǔ le.

We each take one. Only when we reach the street do we notice it is raining again.

我打开伞，一张小纸条从里面掉了下来。

Wǒ dǎkāi sǎn, yì zhāng xiǎo zhǐtiáo cóng lǐmiàn diào le xiàlai.

I open mine, and a little note falls out.

上面写着：“别忘了买牛奶。”字是朋友写的。

Shàngmian xiězhe: “Bié wàng le mǎi niúnǎi.” Zì shì péngyou xiě de.

It says, “Don’t forget to buy milk.” The handwriting is my friend’s.

她笑着和我换了伞：“现在我们知道哪把是谁的了。”

Tā xiàozhe hé wǒ huàn le sǎn: “Xiànzài wǒmen zhīdào nǎ bǎ shì shéi de le.”

She smiles and swaps umbrellas with me. “Now we know whose is whose.”
