How to assign and review Chinese homework online
Website
Assign a saved lesson, read student submissions and return corrections in Laowai Classroom. The assignment keeps the lesson copy, answers and review state together.
Assign a saved lesson to a class
- Save and preview the lesson in Classroom.
- Choose Assign homework from the class or lesson.
- Select the class and lesson, and add a due date if needed.
- Check the assignment before confirming.
The assignment is a fixed copy. Later edits in My lessons stay in the editor. This keeps students working from the same version of a task.
If the lesson contains vocabulary, its words can also become a shared app list. That supports revision alongside the assignment; student answers remain private.
Complete, check and submit as a student
Use the Student workspace and open My classes, then choose the assignment. Read the instructions before answering. Choice, matching, word-order and typed tasks have different controls; spoken and handwriting tasks use their own response tools.
Work can have an In progress state before it is submitted. Read the save or submission status before leaving the page. A microphone or media permission may be needed for a recorded response; if that route is unavailable, tell the teacher rather than assuming an empty answer has been recorded.
When ready, use the submission action. Return later to check whether the work is Awaiting teacher review, Changes requested or Completed.
Review the answer against the actual goal
Teachers open Review homework to find submissions. Some exercises can be checked against a defined answer; written, spoken and handwriting responses need teacher judgment.
Read or listen to the actual response before grading. Use the prompt and any rubric to decide what counts. A correct noun may still leave the target sentence pattern unfinished.
我想喝茶。
Wǒ xiǎng hē chá.
I would like some tea.
For a task about 想 + action, feedback could say: “You chose the right drink. Put 喝 after 想, then add 茶.” Give the learner a change they can make, with a model only when it helps.
Use written feedback and available voice feedback as appropriate. Recorded feedback needs working microphone access; check that it saved before completing the review.
Return for correction or complete the work
Request changes when the student should revise, and make the requested change specific. The student can read the feedback, correct the response and submit again. Accept the work when it meets the goal.
Keep the review history in view when checking a resubmission. Compare the revised answer with the change you requested in your feedback.
Words to practise can help students revisit vocabulary from mistakes and teacher selections. Completing a vocabulary round does not automatically complete a homework review. Check the assignment’s own status for that.
Notification delivery depends on configured channels and permissions. Use the assignment and review screens as the place to confirm the current state.
