How to organise Chinese courses, classes and lesson schedules
Website
Use a course for the teaching sequence, a class for the students and a scheduled event for the next meeting. Keeping those roles clear makes it easier to reuse lessons without confusing class work.
Group saved lessons into a course
In the Teacher workspace, open Courses and create or edit a course. Add saved lessons and group them into named sections. Use an order that changes what the learner can do at each step.
A beginner sequence might move from choosing a drink, to asking another person, to ordering two drinks. A section title such as “Order at a café” makes the purpose visible to the next teacher using the course.
Open the course and choose Attach to class when the sequence is ready. This is your teacher-authored course in Classroom. The structured HSK courses inside the iPhone and iPad app are a separate product feature.
Add a class event and check the time zone
- Open Schedule and create an event for the intended class.
- Set its date, time and duration.
- Add the lesson context and your external call link where needed.
- Check the displayed time zone before saving.
- Open the saved event and verify its details.
Students and teachers in different countries should compare the event in their own displayed time zones. A note such as “Tuesdays at six” in a class description is less precise than a dated event with a zone.
The calendar export produces an ICS file. Import it into your calendar and inspect the resulting event. A downloaded calendar file is a snapshot; export again when you need to reflect later changes.
Use School when colleagues share teaching work
A solo teacher can use classes, lessons and courses without creating a school. School is useful when colleagues need shared materials or assigned teaching responsibility.
School tools provide staff invitations and roles. Teacher access covers assigned classes and shared materials; methodist access supports shared material work; administrators have broader school responsibilities. Choose the role that matches the colleague’s work before sending the invitation.
Use the shared lesson library to make reusable material available to the team. Review its author and revision before using it. Your personal classes and lessons remain associated with your account.
Check notification settings for useful class reminders and work updates. Browser permissions and channel setup affect delivery, so inspect Schedule and Review homework directly when confirming what is due.
