Laowai public dictionary export — 21 October 2026 Dictionary: CC-CEDICT, published by MDBG, CC BY-SA 4.0. French definitions: CFDICT, CC BY-SA 3.0. Sentence examples and translations: Tatoeba contributors, CC BY 2.0 FR. Each example includes the original Chinese and English sentence links and contributor credits in matching order. Word ordering uses Jieba frequencies under the MIT License. Copyright (c) 2013 Sun Junyi. The complete official Jieba MIT text is included in JIEBA.txt; its pinned source and hash are recorded in the manifest. Changes: SQLite dictionary articles were split into plain-text definitions and exported as JSON; search keys and sharding were generated; English fallback text was omitted from French fields. The native importer converted Tatoeba Chinese to simplified characters using OpenCC, normalized English text with Unicode NFKC, selected and deduplicated pairs, and linked dictionary tokens. Tokenization and search data are generated metadata. No sentence pinyin was generated for this export. The original source licences continue to apply to their respective data. Adapted CC-CEDICT data is available under CC BY-SA 4.0; adapted CFDICT data under CC BY-SA 3.0. These data licences do not purport to relicense unrelated website code or artwork. Source and licence links are preserved in the notices and manifest. The copied native notices describe native tables. This web export includes only the datasets listed above; it does not include legacy examples, grammar, user lists or private app data. Unicode's notice is retained for the character frequency provenance recorded in the source database; the current rank field uses Jieba whole-word frequency. French definitions are present only when the native French article differs from English. The native CFDICT match uses tone-insensitive pinyin; some polyphonic entries therefore share broad French definitions. Tatoeba quality and trust scores are automatic import heuristics, not human approval. Native dictionary token links do not guarantee sense or pronunciation alignment.
